In the 1980s, my family and I were political refugees from the Soviet Union, entering a land of many unknowns. We had only two suitcases of personal belongings and $100 per person to our name. We had to learn English quickly, but we were determined to succeed. I went to high school and worked, and soon, the United States became my home in every sense.

Later, I went to University of Michigan and earned a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Computer Science. My career started as a computer programmer, but I quickly realized that I enjoyed working with people more than I enjoyed sitting in front of the computer and coding. I worked full time, studied full time, and quickly climbed the corporate ladder.

By the age of 26, I was a vice president, managing 60 people.  I had worked for Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, and Goldman Sachs. By any measure, one could say that I had found success.

But after having my first child, and in the wake of 9/11, I decided I needed to step away. For the next four years, I was a SAHM, but I began to miss the pace and the work of the corporate industry.

To accommodate this desire, I started Woland Web as a solopreneur thinking it would be something that I could do part time while my kids were in preschool.

The business grew and was easily becoming an eight to ten hour workday. Because of my managerial experience in the corporate banking world, I knew how to hire, and I took on my first employee who has been with the company now for 12 years.

Since that time, Woland Web has grown to a team of eight highly skilled and creative individuals from diverse cultures. As an immigrant, it is important for me to help others from different backgrounds, because I know what it means to have to find your way down an unfamiliar path in both personal and professional aspects.

I started this with a need to work from home so I could still be a hands-on mother, therefore, our core values include Balance, along with Get it Done, Intention, Details, and Learn and Grow. We offer a flexible and result-oriented work environment where employees are encouraged to spend time with their families and friends while achieving our company’s goals and objectives. All of our staff work from home.

We use a well defined and documented  four step process that is proven to eliminate the stress of planning and building a website. By providing clarity around each step of the journey, we create beautiful and functional websites, delivered on time and on budget.

Since 2005, our team has designed, built, hosted, and updated over 2500 websites and have worked with over 200 clients in various industries. We work with established companies who view their websites as an extension of their business, a reflection of their organization, and believe that it can and should be an asset to their firm.
