5 Steps To Content Marketing

Our team recently attended the Digital Summit in Charlotte and learned some new digital marketing strategies from some amazing speakers. We noticed a few recurring themes throughout the conference, and one theme that kept popping up was how to strategize content marketing. We have come up with the top 5 steps to content marketing in 2019.
Align Your Content Marketing Strategy With Business Objectives
Do you have a content marketing strategy? If you do not have a dedicated marketing department, you probably don’t. Ask yourself these questions, 1. What are my business objectives? 2. What is the main message I want potential customers to know about my business? 3. What are my customer’s pain points and how can I help them? Once you have the answers to these questions, you can build content for your website, social media, blog posts, email campaigns, ebooks, webinars; you get the picture here. Just stay on topic with your business objectives and the content will flow.
Write Your Content For People, Not Search Engines
The latest trend in marketing is voice search. It is estimated that over half of all searches will be voice searches in 2020. WOW! This is an important factor when you are creating content. Write your content for people, not search engines. Ask natural questions and answer them. One of the top positions in Google search results is now the “People Also Ask” section. Write content like you are answering questions about your services or products.
Create Infographics
Infographics are a fun way to create content. You can give highlights or step-by-step guides about your products or services in an easy to digest way. Bonus: This one piece of content can be re-used in so many ways, website, social media, blog posts, and email newsletters. Infographics are also easy for a customer to share!
Build Use Cases & Capabilities To Showcase Your Services
Why should a client consider using your company? Create content around the answers to this question that shows how you have helped other customers with the same problems. This will automatically showcase your services and you can “sell” your company in a way that is answering your customer’s needs without actually selling to them.
Check Google To Measure Your Results
What is the best way to know if your content is good? Ask Google. Before you start adding all of this great content, be sure you have Google Analytics and Search Console installed on your website. Then, each month measure how each page or blog post is performing on your website. Is there a post that has performed well organically? Write more content around that topic or share them over and over to help drive your site up in the rankings.
Follow these top 5 steps to content marketing and take the time to measure your results. A good strategy includes creating and measuring content on a quarterly basis. Not sure where to start? Fill out this form for a free website audit and we can help you get started in the right direction.
