Charlotte-based Sugar Creek Brewing Company, through the leadership and philanthropy of Master Cicerone®, Beer Engineer, and Educator Joe Vogelbacher held a 24,000-meter Row-A-Thon on June 12, 2021, in the honor and memory of Joe’s sister and Sugar Creek Brewing Company co-founder, Michelle Pratt, who lost her battle with cancer in 2017. Deemed “Michelle’s Mighty Mission,” the event benefitted the 24 Foundation and was hosted at Crossfit Mecklenburg—an event sponsor. Equipment was donated by Indianland CrossFit.  Additionally, Joe also happens to be a member of the Charlotte chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO). As such, when he realized that he needed a specially designed leaderboard and donation application for the event, he turned to fellow EO member, Lena Lumelsky of Woland Web for help.

This year’s “Michelle’s Mighty Mission” event was the second annual event held and featured teams of two people in competition against each other to complete a combined total of 24,000 meters rowed. Participation in the event required a $50 donation and 100% of gross receipts and proceeds from this event were donated to the 24 Foundation, an organization with the mission of inspiring and engaging communities to make an immediate impact on the lives of those individuals affected by cancer. To date, the 24 Foundation has raised more than $22M in support of the mission.

For this event, Woland Web was tasked with creating a leaderboard and donation application used in tracking dollars raised. The team consulted with Joe and leadership at Sugar Creek Brewing Company and envisioned an easy-to-access and visually appealing platform that would allow participants and supporters alike to track the progress of the event.

We invite you to take a look at the event’s website and scroll down to see the leaderboard outlining all of the donations received to date:

While it was our utmost pleasure to participate and contribute to the success of this project, we also appreciated Joe’s kind words on the night of the event.

“Incredibly thankful to you. Absolutely stunned by how you pulled through for my charity event. Thank you many times over and I hope to give you business for years to come,” he stated.

Even more exciting, the event met and exceeded its goal of raising $24,000!

The team at Woland Web supports Michelle’s Mighty Mission and advocates for cancer survivors as well as those who have lost their battle. We invite you to learn more about 24 Foundation and Michelle’s Mighty Mission and get involved. Joe will be riding for Michelle’s Mighty Mission at the annual 24 Hours of Booty event on July 30 and 31st in Uptown Charlotte.

We thank Joe Vogelbacher, the 24 Foundation, and Sugar Creek Brewing Company for bringing us in to help with the digital assets associated with this event.
